Beware the Person, or leader, of a Single Book or a Single Issue!
I recall a Christian leader say: I serve best by holding the Bible in one hand and the daily newspaper in the other. I’ve heard leaders say the only book they read is the Bible. I’m reminded of 1st Chronicles 12:32 NLT
“From the tribe of Issachar, there were 200 leaders of the tribe with their relatives. All these men understood the signs of the times and knew the best course for Israel to take.”
The Bible (for Christian leaders) is the MAIN book we should be reading, but it’s not the ONLY book we should be reading if we are to understand culture and what’s going on so we can apply the gospel in relevant ways.
Eric Geiger does an excellent job of warning us of the dangers of “Single Book” and “Single-Issue” believers and leaders.
