“So I will work hard to make these things clear to you. I want you to remember them long after I am gone.”
Jesus, in my teaching allow me to work hard to communicate well; keeping it simple, and sharing it with the empowerment of your Holy Spirit. I want to leave a lasting legacy so people continue to remember and apply what they saw in me and heard from me…long after I’m gone!

Clear, compelling and concise communication takes lots of hard work…but work that is worth the effort. One of the most important skills a leader can cultivate is communication; both in writing and in speaking. Speaking is one thing, communicating is another. John Maxwell wrote a book titled, “Everyone Communicates, Few Connect.” My experience has taught me that this is true. By His grace communicate in such a way that you connect with your audience and they connect with you!
Telling is not teaching and listening is not learning.
I hear Peter saying that he’s going to work hard to make things clear, so that his audience will remember what he’s said long after he’s gone.
What we say, or write, can be well organized. It can be well documented. It can be well delivered. But if it cannot be well remembered, have we really communicated so as to leave a legacy of truth in the hearts and minds of our listeners?
Here are a few very practical ideas on communicating more clearly:

Be prepared & speak from experience
- Say It Like You Mean It –
Speak with conviction & passion
- Keep It Simple –
Know what to leave out as well as what to include
- Get The Right Illustration/Stories –
Illustrations are like windows that let light in
- Make A Point –
Have one clear theme or point to make…easier to remember
- Go For A Commitment –
Challenge people to apply what they are receiving
