Look closely before you accuse me of “weight profiling.”

Not butts…buts!

There will always be “but” people around.

Why not this? Why not you? Why not now?

Yeah, I get what you’re proposing, “but!”

I understand your vision, “but!”

I agree with the basic idea, “but!”

Some of these people with big “buts” are:

In your family

In your church

At work

Here are a few that come to mind:

But, we could never do that…

But, we tried that before and it didn’t work…

But, we don’t have enough money…

But, we don’t have enough experience…

But, it’s too risky…

But, what if we fail…

But, you’re too old for that kind of thing…

But, you’re too young for that kind of thing…

But, what will other people say…

But, I don’t have good health…

You can probably add some of your own “buts.”

“They came back to Moses and Aaron and the whole Israelite community at Kadesh in the desert of Paran. There they reported to them and to the whole assembly and showed them the fruit of the land. They gave Moses this account: ‘We went into the land to which you sent us, and it does flow with milk and honey! Here is its’ fruit. But the people who live there are powerful, and the cities are fortified and very large. We even saw descendants of Anak there.’ ” Numbers 13: 26-28 (NIV)

The big “buts” won out despite Caleb and Joshua’s good report and the children of Israel wandered in the desert for 40 years.

What are you not trying…are afraid to begin because of the people with the big buts?

Do you have a big but that is holding you back?
