I can’t remember when or where I first ran across this idea of “Living Life Out loud;” living with abandon, not holding back or holding in, but simply being myself and not apologizing for it..
II Samuel 6:21 in the New Living translation says, “…so I am willing to act like a fool in order to show my joy in the Lord.” This was King David’s response to being criticized by his wife for showing some unbridled joy. This verse motivates me to not live in a box, be confined to one swimming lane predetermined by other people, dance to other people’s music.
It doesn’t mean being arrogant, full of myself, having an independent spirit or not being teachable; but it does mean simply being who God made me to be and living it out without fear of what others might say or think. Too much of my life has been spent in trying to keep everybody happy and missing the real me created by Jesus Christ. Someone said, “I don’t know what the secret to success is, but I do know what the secret to failure is and that’s trying to keep everybody happy.”
Oh the joy in Jesus of simply being myself, yourself.
