It is mind-opening to me how much time I can spend to make things comfortable and convenient for myself. Jesus, on the other hand, is developing my character and is far more interested in my character than my comfort and convenience. With this in mind it is easy to understand that Jesus and I are in tension with each other and on a collision course.
As a leader, He allows, and even orchestrates, things in my life that intentionally cause discomfort and inconvenience in order to build my Character while I am doing my best to avoid situations that produce discomform and inconvenience. I live my life, and do certain things, to avoid pain while He leads me into pain and suffering with character-building in mind.
When will I learn to see things from his perspective rather than my own egocentric and selfish perspective? What has been your experience in this?
