From the Chapter in “Finish Line Leadership” ~ Leaders Make Decisions! That’s What Leaders Do.

As I observe the political, business, sports, and church land- scape today, I often think that much of what goes south or sideways stems from confusion and lack of clarity about good decision-making practices. Lack of clarity has been going on for a long time; it is happening everywhere I look and seems to be getting worse. Over the years, I’ve come to believe that most of the very important decisions a church, group, company, or organization can make fall into these three broad categories:

• Personnel

• Financial

• Directional

The decisions made as to whom you add to your team, how you spend your resources, and where you are headed are all critical to the success and fruitfulness of any endeavor. A case in point would be the confusion and quick-changing scenario with masks and vaccine mandates we dealt with in the USA during the Covid-19 pandemic. Who decided what? It was a moving target that was hard to shoot at.
