Deuteronomy 5:29 (ESV):
“Oh that they had such a heart as this always, to fear me and to keep all my commandments, that it might go well with them and with their descendants forever.”
Jesus, by your grace and with the power of the H/S, keep me close to your heart ALWAYS!
“Keep a close watch on yourself and the teaching. Persist in this…” -1 Timothy 4:16 (ESV)
Help me persist until I die or until you come again.
+Additional Thoughts:
I recall Charles Swindoll saying that the problem with life is that it is so daily. Funny, but true. To do something consistently over a long period of time is the key to so many things in life, in addition to simple obedience. Saving a little money on a monthly basis and doing it consistently for many years; dating your wife weekly and doing it consistently for many years; exercising regularly and doing it consistently for many years. When I read the word “Persist” mentioned above, it gives me motivation and a desire to think of the big picture of legacy and not just what I am doing today.
Many years ago I attended a conference on the east coast. I don’t remember anything from that conference except one statement a speaker made: “The cumulative effect of small things over a long period of time.” It is so true, so biblical, so difficult and so life impacting.
It takes lots of grace, lots of focus, lots of dedication, but it’s worth it…for the kingdom, for myself, for my family and for those I am privileged to lead!
